Been coming here for years and are never disappointed. Yes it could use updated decor but then again it's part of the charm. Most of the staff have been here fur quite some time so that's says something fur the management.

Ah, the old Cask and Cleavage... As we used to call it back in the day! There used to be one in Redlands, and when I learned that there was one in Rancho, I was eager to give it a try. I seem to recall being served warm, fresh dark bread (a la Outback) ... But what we got was a couple of dry old pumpernickel rolls and two sourdough rolls. The rest of the meal was great - we split a prime rib entree and the chef plated it for us on two plates. Cooked to perfection- with fresh steamed broccoli, baked potato, and a very crisp green salad. The service was prompt and polite as well. Now let's talk about ambience-- yes it's still the old decor from yesteryear -- but it has a certain charm. I noticed there is a smoking patio outside the bar area, and the smell of old cig smoke pervades the indoor bar and the front entryway. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant, and the air was much fresher there. The salad bar was right by us and it looked scrumptious. This is a nice mid-level steakhouse and is close by. Casual dining, and overall good service with good food. A nice bang for your buck. I will return! Thanks!!

Rather unfair...a 3 star rating overall. I really think this CnC is better than that. We have been coming here for many decades now (even though infrequently because of distance). Like many other restaurants, this rustic, nostalgic steakhouse has had it's good times and it's bad. And the recession really took its toll on this usually reliable dining experience. But times are better now, and CnC still manages to please us., Part of the negative impression is because of the location. Pick up your phone and use your app to get directions, as it is rather unrecognizable as a restaurant to passer-bys. There is a huge parking lot, poorly lighted at night, that may cause some pause. But never you mind. Darkly lit inside as well, and built with dark wood and local river rock, it is a throw back to gentler times and hearty appetites. The salad bar is possibly one of the best in the area. Everything is fresh, with many more offerings than most, and delicious house made salad dressings and seed and homemade crouton toppings. Double yum to their cole slaw and potato salad. Addicting. Note: If you are thinking about ordering the peanut cole slaw as your side dish with your meal, and feel tempted by the salad bar, that cole slaw is one of the choices on the salad bar. So choose something else as your only side. Adding a trip to the salad bar will run less than $5 and is worth it. I cannot eat here without filling up on this and loving it. I usually stick with their Teriyaki Kabob dinner. I love their teriyaki sauce which comes in its own dipping cup, not already slathered on. While only one skewer, there is plenty to eat. My only regret is the interspersed, raw onions. Can't eat them raw, but that is because they surround 5-6 big chunks of sirloin (no fat) that have been cooked to a perfectly medium rare with a great fire-grilled flavor. I also choose the pilaf as my one side, which I have learned is consistently perfect and buttery great. It comes with a pile of crispy onion strings too. Around $16. The Rib Eye this time had a good, outdoor grill taste, but not the best of cuts as in prior visits. It was priced at nearly $30. Kudos for doing a perfectly done medium rare, and great flavor, but it was a smaller steak than some (maybe under 9 oz), it looked hand cut as one end was thicker than the other, and had some gristle. Mr. B's one side was a big, fat baked potato with all the trimmings. Didn't see him having any trouble making this disappear. For that price, though, you would think there should have been some veggies on the plate as well. It wouldn't have broken the bank, but here, an additional side means an extra charge. Their bread basket comes with both squaw bread and white dinner rolls and a cup of real whipped butter. We always enjoy the warmed bread, especially the squaw. Yes, it is pricey, but we are always willing to return for a good, old fashioned steak meal and the friendly atmosphere. We just need to speak up if not up to their usual par.

Celebrated my birthday last night here with my family. Everything was great. Food, cocktails & service were Excellent. I wasn't expecting much because I saw a few bad reviews before coming, but that was not the case here. I had the blackened salmon scampi style with steamed broccoli. It was perfect. My husband had the porterhouse steak with rice pilaf. Also, great! No complaints from any of the rest of the family either. Our server was great too. Very friendly and attentive. Loved dining there during the Christmas holiday. There was a couple Christmas trees beautifully decorated. Our server offered to take our picture by one of them. Definitely will be returning. Thank you for a memorable Birthday celebration!

My husband and I went here for dinner. Our server was friendly and attentive (we didn't get her name). We both had prime rib. Believe it or not, but their prime rib is better than the expensive Saturday prime rib dinner buffet we had in a Riverside hotel. We will be back!

I'll be generous and say this was 3 stars. It was very loud, crowded at 7-8p Friday night. The decor seems to be in need of a facelift but it was clean. Servers were nice and friendly. The food was not up to par for those prices they charge for steak ($25 for 8z filet). My brother and I both ordered filet Med rare. And what came was well in the thinner area and a dry med on the thickest. We had the baked potatoes with everything and what blew me away was it used cheese sauce, not real cheese, as a topping. Seemed a bit of a gap between one half the meal and the other. The Ceasars salad had black wilted lettuce that I picked out and set aside and the server didn't notice. He really didn't come and ask us how the food was, he kind of tossed it out as he was walking by. So, disappointing overall and wouldn't go back again.

So far superior to Outback and other chain steakhouses. Steaks are usually grilled perfectly, 3 sizes to suit everyone and the salad bar with their mushroom salad and "real" bacon pieces is so good. Servers are excellent and know their menu well. Place is old, rustic, somewhat damp smelling when you first walk in but the food is great. Yes, a good idea would be to use a coupon, an entertainment book or the buy one dinner get one dinner cards sold through a private firm we've discovered. Brings the overall cost of a dinner down to really a good value. If you stay away from too much booze or bring your own wine and pay corkage you can do really well. Hope they keep this oldie but goodie going for a long time. We love it and take friends and family there because the atmosphere is so friendly.

This is the Original Cask and Cleaver and totally worth it to come to the original. The food is good but the portions are not overly large for the price. It is a decent value for quality but I ordered a medium rare steak and it was a bit charred on the outside, though it was medium rare on the inside so that is a pass. The side of vegetables was mostly red bell pepper which was a bit odd but still tasty. The Mashed potatoes are a credit to potatoes, really very good. The service is decent but could be better. The bartender was pleasant and good but the waitress was only okay, nothing to complain about though. The ambiance is killer cool, but unfortunately it was a bit warm in the dinning room on my last visit like the A/C is not what it once was. Possibly the best thing about this place though is the outdoor smoking porch. They have tables set up with ashtrays and presumably you can smoke while eating dinner or having drinks just like in the good old days. I'll be back with a cigar just to try this out. Very cool old school touch.

If you want to overhear loud elderly people who left their hearing aids at home discuss all of their ailment and or/money, making you sick to your stomach while you try and have a nice dinner with your significant other, this is the place to come.

This place is located in a really odd location - part residential and commercial. My client's business is located nearby and suggested Cask N Cleaver for lunch. The building seems like it's been here for decades and in need of a remodel on the exterior and interior. I was impressed with the service we received once we entered the establishment - seated asap and our waitress took our drink orders. I went with a prime rib sandwich with mixed fruit as my side. The sandwich was served on a french roll was really tasty and included ajus for dipping. I finished my Sammie and started in on the grapes and cantaloupe. The grapes were sweet and satisfying but my cantaloupe was not ripe and inedible. Overall a decent lunch with solid service although I doubt if I would go out of my way to return here again.

This steak house style restaurant is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. What a great staff! Well trained for sure. Other servers offer assistance to all tables. You can really see the strong management in this building, as they all work as a team. Very good steaks. Salad bar is good and well stocked as well. We have tried many items on the menu and nothing has disappointed. The price is reasonable, and the portions above average. I will be back!

After a horrible experience last night with Pomona Valley Mining Co (See that review. lol.) My family and I were left in an unfamiliar town, super hungry, and really wanting a steak. My 70 yr old dad found this place through some app on his car (Whaaaat?) so we decided to check it out. They were able to accommodate us with last min reservations, which most places we called wouldn't because it was Mother's Day. It looked soooooo weird from the outside, and I was thinking "No way in hell am I eating here." Inside it was pretty clean and everyone seemed friendly. I ordered the prime rib with asaragus, and got the salad bar. The salad bar was the best salad bar I've had in awhile. I had two plates full! The prime rib was really good, as well. I have to say- the reason for the 5 stars was the service. We got the most adorable waitress EVER! I don't know her name, but she was 8 months pregnant. Ha. No idea how she was 8 months pregnant, running from table to table, and still so friendly?! We definitely plan on returning, as this is the half way point for my family to all meet up for dinner. Thanks for saving the day!

Definitely off the beaten path, but it was a nice surprise. I had a burger there and it was grilled exactly the way I wanted it and the grilled vegetables were on point. It's exactly what you would expect from a restaurant and they definitely delivered. Oh and also the waitress was great and refilled our drinks promptly. Looks like customer service is a priority here.

Went there the other night and got right in and ordered the shrimp appetizer which came with 6 huge shrimp and tasted great. I ordered the porterhouse and clam chowder soup. The steak was tender and had a great flavor to it. The chowder was good also. This place is old and rustic. If you're looking for new and trendy, then this is not the place for you.

We visited after a show at the Citizen arena, from out of town, for a mini get away, and I really wanted a steak. I enjoyed the little wedge salad and garlic bread but the steak was tough and not well cooked. My daughters filet was undercook from the guide listed on their menu and chewy- not acceptable for a 26$ steak. We skipped dessert since the service was slow and nothing looked appealing. Note to self: if a website doesn't include a dessert menu there is a reason why... Our bill was 80$-in my opinion overpriced for one cocktail and subpar steaks. Disappointed in Ontario.
We went 10 minutes before closing. We encounter a waitress who wasn't very friendly mainly because they were closing. We didn't know. However, a nice gentlemen advised us that as long as we were in there before closing, we would be served without rush. Therefore we proceeded to order. The calamari was really good. It was fresh, hot and fried to perfection. I had a 10 oz filet mignon that was supposed to be cooked medium well. It came back a little charged but it wasn't dried out. It didn't melt in your mouth like most steaks but it was ok. I ordered the green beans which were just horrible. Bland and overcooked. My friend had a t-bone steak and baked potato that he said was good. I would try it again when it's not so closer to closing time. Maybe my experience with the steak will be different.

My family loves Cask n Cleaver. Everyone that works here is very friendly and the waitresses are attentive. However, I am a vegetarian and they don't have much here for me to eat. I realize this is a steakhouse, not a place for vegetarians. My family loves to come here weekly and when I join them, I'm forced to eat appetizers or sides. The two stars are only because the appetizers and sides ARE good. It's just not really a meal.

We went to eat on Halloween 2014. My husband, my son and I all ate the prime rib. It was the worst Prime Rib we have ever ate. The place smells really bad and old. We had a coupon for 1/2 price entrees. $80.00 was the biggest mistake ever. Will never return to Cask n Cleaver. Coco's has much better prime rib and it's so much cheaper. Please save your money and don't waste it on Cask n Cleaver.

Nothing new to report here folks. It has been at least a year since I have dined here. But the place remains virtually unchanged, which is not a great thing because the restaurant is really outdated and dingy. In fact the only change I noticed was in the prices which have gone up. A rib eye dinner is thirty bucks now, which is really not a bad price if the service and environment matched the quality of the meal, but it doesn't. Extremely lackluster service, its like ordering fast food, you order and then you never see your server again. The service is not overly warm, it seems rushed which would make sense if they were busy but on a Saturday night, the restaurant was maybe half full. The steak was good, the mashed potatoes acceptable, but sitting for 10 minutes with empty plates in front of us, not so good. Finally another waitress cleared our plates, but dessert was not offfered and it was at least 15 minutes later that we actually received our check. During that time my husband got up retrieved the water pitcher and refilled our glasses because despite having ordered a bottle of red wine, we sat with empty water glasses for most of the meal and I was thirsty. Once we had the bill, we again had to wait another 10 minutes for the waitress to pick up the check, so an evening that started off well, ended poorly. I can't believe that anyone would willingly subject themselves to such poor service to eat a steak. Flemings is world's better, even Outback manages to deliver a comparable steak with much more efficient and friendly service. My hundred dollars are better spent elsewhere. I wait tables so I never tip 15 percent, but frankly I still think that 15 percent was more than what was deserved.

Great place in Rancho to take my friends or family for lunch or dinner when we can get out. We love the salad bar, the potato salad is very good(made from scratch and fresh). Ribs are decent but the burgers are pretty good. The bread they serve before the meal is soft. Nice to stop by once in awhile when we can sneak out! We get seated fast and you can just choose where you want to sit. It does get busy on the weekends, but you can call ahead and reserve. Steaks are pretty good here, but they are expensive. I get the vegetables with my meal along with the unlimited salad bar.

Is Yelp starting to become undependable? I don't know. By reading these reviews alone, I would have steered clear of this place. However, I had to go there to participate in a meeting, and dinner was included. So I stopped here to just take a quick scan of reviews prior to going, and then was not looking forward to it. We all met in a conference room they have there and ordered dinner. The menu looked good, but I had read here the steaks were tough. Well, I ordered the smallest Filet, baked potato, and salad bar, even though there was a review saying the salad bar was terrible. So, we go to the salad bar. No, it is not the length of a super long bar you might find in a soup and salad place, but it was not bad at all. Regular lettuce, plus a few other types of salad, potato and otherwise, fresh eggs, olives, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower and more. Pretty much a decent salad bar. Chilled plates. The salad was fresh and tasted great. So, what's the deal with the wilted lettuce and tiny salad bar with no fixings that I read about here? Hmmm. Next up, about 10 minutes later, here comes are filets. My wife ordered the same thing. They were perfect medium. Soft, juicy, and tasty. The baked potato was perfectly done. Rolls were soft. On top of all this, our waitress had to work around our projector, screen, speakers, and was polite to make sure she did not cut off or walk in front of the speaker. I could not imagine her working any harder. Every time I turned around my soda was refilled. She did all this in a crowded room. So, when I got home, I read more deeply the "reviews". One complaining that she was a vegetarian and they didn't "have much here for me to eat". No, only a nice salad bar and potatoes and such. And since it's a steak house....oh never mind. Someone else complaining about the parking lot pavement! Several complaining that it needs to be remodeled. I'll give on that one. It IS old styled. And that I like. Reminds me a bit of the Magic Lamp. I LIKE the old style. Wood and red booths and a "busy table", the "worst seat in the house" and if you sit there, they will only charge you 1/2 for food! And an old fashioned bar area with several TVs. This place is not Ruth's Chris, nor will you pay those prices, and I love Ruth's Criss. But I can't help wonder if some of these 1 and 2 star ratings are fired ex-employees (likely because of poor performance) who want to blow BS on their old employee. I enjoyed and will be back. Oh, and it IS in a neighborhood with some homes and some businesses. One commenter was put off by that. Oh well.

My wife loved the Cabernet goat cheese butter on her NY steak and my porterhouse was very flavorful. My son's baby back ribs also had great flavor and the meat fell right off the bone. The wait was longer than expected but our meals were well prepared and we were very satisfied with our choices.
I really like this place but tonight my steak was undercooked. I had to send it back and when it was brought back to me it was so overcooked and dry it was into edible. Very disappointing!!

My old elementary school is literally a block away from the Cask 'n Cleaver. My parents used to think this place was the shiznit. We'd order our steaks well done because my mom can't stand the sight of blood in her meat. But then again she prefers chicken over beef now so she's not the beef connoisseur in the family anyway. Now that my brothers and I are older and should we order here, we order our steaks medium rare because we like them pink and slightly bloody. Cask 'n Cleaver isn't anything special like the Sycamore Inn. It's probably on par with Black Angus. The salads are made with iceberg lettuce but they aren't wedge salads. Granted it has been around for a good 40+ years, back when Rancho Cucamonga was orange and grape fields before the Ice Cube Friday movies made Rancho Cucamonga a household name. Oh wait, it's not a household name. It's just funny to say. The old converted ranch house is now a restaurant that serves steaks and whatnot. I imagine it will continue to serve the stuff they say is art but it's not. It's just meat and it's just ok. My steak was done to my liking but the flavor profile was not fantastic. The service was pretty standard too. I'm pretty sure we can make a better steak at home.

There is no worse steak on the planet. We ordered three ribeyes and lobster, the all three ribeyes were flavorless, (no doubt they had been frozen) super dry, hard to swallow and extremely chewy... I'm a steak lover and eat steaks on the weekends all the time. Looking for a new steakhouse, I received a $20 coupon which lured us in, but was terribly disappointed. This was NOT a ribeye at all! The lobster was cold. The garlic cheese bread for $5.95 was disappointing as well. The only thing we enjoyed was the Barq's rootbeer. I spent about $130 for my wife and I and our little girl... we left $130 poorer, and frustrated. I will NEVER go there again... EVER... EVER... EVER!

I should have known by the location and outward appearance of the place that this was not going to be good. Steak was tough, baked potato was WAY overcooked and onion straws were a day old and re-heated. I've had a better ribeye at Claim Jumper at a much cheaper price. Huge disappointment. Should have ordered pizza and watched Netflix.

We go here AT LEAST once a month..occasionally every 3weeks..last night my husband wanted Pinacle Peak. I said no, Cask & Cleaver cuz we love the salad bar with the Porterhouse..well, NO..2 days ago they changed menu...no more salad bar included...it's extra... So now we pay for us an additional $18 for,our meals .not happening..SO DISAPPOINTED- they went out of the Entertainment books which help schools to raise money (a long with their Sycamore) and now this...the place is always packed, I think they could include salad! NOT GOING BACK.

Went on a Sunday night waited an hour for our food! When we walked in there were dirty tables with plates and food on them! They didn't get busted till after we got out food! The busy boy came and strolled out to clean the tables and was watching the football game. The manager watched us wait and didn't even approach to ask I've could help us! The manager then spoke to people at the bar and was drinking wine with them. He was very very unprofessional. Then once we got our food after an hour, the food wasn't even warm and the steak was bristly and had to return it! The manager didn't apologize and asked why we didn't want another one! Overall a very horrible experience and will not be ever going to this restaurant!!!!!!!!!

I really like the food at C&C. The prices are a bit high for me to go very often. I get a good discount from the entertainment book (which is the main reason I buy it). I like that the salad bar is a choice with the meals at no added charge. Love the Prime Rib, Pepper Crusted Steak, Roast Beef Dip sandwhich. Service is very good. They tend to get very busy so I go early.

I've been their once and that was enough!!! they don't know how to cook their meat!!! The salad bar was a big joke. The lettuce was wilted and the salad bar was warm not cold... Avoid at all costs, waste of money!!!

Had a luncheon year end award meeting here Dec. 2011. Service was very good. One waitress with help from manager for about 40 people. No complaint, lots of hussle, great attitude. Filet medium rare, correct, warm & good. Mashed potatoes warm, tasty, creamy and good. Veggies warm & OK. Would consider coming here to eat if I was in the area. Decent wine, little pricey, but, thats the profit. Worth another try----------------------------
I have to say.. The service was very good. But the food was not. They sent me a $20 off gift certificate for my birthday & since I've never been there we decided to go. We both ordered steaks & had the salad bar with it. The salad bar was good & everything was fresh. But we ordered garlic cheese bread and when it came I took a couple bites and it tasted old but I didn't want to complain, then I looked at the side of it and it had blue spots on it.. And the manager verified that it was in fact mold.. They gave us a new basket of bread and it tasted COMPLETELY different! I then realized that the other bread WAS bad. The steaks were just OK. I actually prefer Outback.

A reasonably decent place that's been around forever, since the local area was an orange grove. It always looked to me as if it was some old barn tacked together and made into a restaurant. and occasionally added onto. The exterior "decorations" look amateurish old and run down. The interior is dark and worn-out looking. The food is decent, but over priced, apparently to make up for all those coupons giving large discounts or free dinners. The prices? Salad bar, - way less than Sizzler, very plain and unimaginative- $10.99. Enough said. Service is lackluster. Tthe high point? The excellent artichokes, if they're in season. .

This place is disgusting, the building needs renovating, the parking lot could be repaved, the food quality sucked and the staff was impolite. My family came here for a nice dinner. After making a reservation the waitress brought us to a dirty table that hadn't yet been cleared, we then were expected to stand awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant while everyone else was seated with their meals. After some time we were seated only for a man to tell us that specific table had been reserved for someone else. So again we stood uncomfortably waiting for a second table to be cleaned. Ok finally we sat down to order in this dive where the food was overpriced. The salad bar is small, again dirty and not worth it... I would have rather gone to the souplantation... I would not recommend this place.

Ive been here a few times over the years and ive been here a few times where i showed up and left because of the wait. We made a reservation for the day before Valentines day. I ordered my usual, Prime rib and my wife got the shrimp. She said the shrimp was one of the best shrimp dishes she has ever had. My prime rib was ok, probably about a 3 1/2 star. We also ordered the tempura avacado and we loved it. I would order this everytime. My wife also had to get the cheesy bread and myself, i would never order it again. The lady that served us was great also. The really sad thing is that the bathroom smells better then when you first walk into the restuarant.

Don't be fooled by the dated look of the restaurant, Cask & Cleaver's food is really good. Open for lunch & dinner, I highly recommend the prime roast beef dip sandwich with choice of potatoes (I like the thick steak fries) and the sirloin steak (med. well comes out fine). Dinners include choice of 2 sides such as baked potato, all-you-can-eat salad bar, steamed vegetables, etc. Service has been really good, you get your food quickly and it's hot & fresh every time.

The food is good, but not great. I think that they have recently changed the quality of their meat to a lower grade. Their New York steak used to be the absolute best, but now it is just average. The service could be very good, average, or awful. It depends on how busy they are. You may actually enjoy dining in the bar since the service there seems better and there are free munchies to enjoy while you wait for your food.

I went here with my husband and his family for a before-holiday dinner; the restaurant we originally were supposed to go to was booked so we ended up at the Cask. The first thing that I noticed about the restaurant was that it was EMPTY. Granted, it was a Sunday night, but it was still surprising to see the place so deserted. The second thing that was noticed by everyone in our party was that there were leaks everywhere- huge rainstorm outside- and there weren't any floor signs letting people know about the wet floors, just five-gallon buckets stationed around the place filling up with water. The private room we had was leaking, the bathroom ceilings were leaking, pretty much everything was leaking. The steaks were described to us as "prime" so many of us ordered steaks in the hope that we would be getting great cuts of beef. Uh, NO. I ordered the blue-cheese smothered steak with garlic mashed potatoes and a ceasar salad. The salad dressing tasted bottled, the potatoes were nothing more than smashed up red potatoes with no seasoning and the steak was so tough I only ate about 1/4 of it. My husband ordered my some vanilla bean cheesecake while I was up chasing our daughter and after a few bites, I just threw it in a to-go container to not seem rude. It had a gummy crust and just tasted old. From what the rest of the people in our party said, their food was also only sub-par and the experience itself was just disappointing all around. Our waiter was the only good part about our meal...I think his name was Dan. He was very nice and accomodating and ran his butt off going back and forth for our party, which was pretty big and a lot of us felt that he should have had some sort of help from another waiter. All in all, my husband and I will NEVER go back to the Cask N' Cleaver, as it has clearly seen its day.

I go to the Cask on a regular basis. It's a home-style sort of sit down restaurant with a full bar, where you can go wearing casual clothes and feel comfy; no need to dress up as it's not a fancy sort of place. If you want showstopping presentation this is not the place to go, but they do have reliable good food; I've tried a lot of different dishes and never been disappointed. I've ordered the artichoke and the steak kabob with teriyaki more often than anything else. And although I rarely allow myself to indulge, the baby back ribs come out so tender that they are falling apart as you pick them up - really yummy!! My sister loves the bleu cheese new york steak and my bro-in-law likes the pepper steak. All of our steaks have always been cooked correctly as ordered. The bread they serve with all of the dinner entrees is really yummy too, so keep that in mind as you order or you will undoubtedly eat too much. To counter what some of the other reviewers have said... the salad bar is fresh & good, although it is a salad bar (not a cheap meal buffet with entrees ala sizzler - yuck) and it is included with the main entrees. It has the main staples of delicious salad ingredients... 2 types of lettuce mixes, nice tomato triangles (half wedges), thick cucumber slices, shredded carrots, peppers, beets, sunflower seeds, raisins, chopped hard boiled egg, freshly cooked bacon pieces (rather than dried bits from a jar), thick bleu cheese crumbles, fresh cracked pepper, 6-8 salad dressings, in addition to peanut cole slaw, and pasta or potato salad and other things which I am surely forgetting. Anyway, I love making my own dinner salad, so I avoid the dinner specials, which are slightly cheaper, but don't come with the salad bar. The service is dependent on how crowded the place is; I have never had horrible service here, but it has ranged from excellent to decent.

Loved it here. Went in with a coupon, definitely a pricey place but with good food and nice folks. Our waitress was Trisha I believe, she was very awesome and attentive. I do love it when I don't have to ask for anything cause they are on top of their A-game :) Not a place that is affordable in the mixed drink section, but that's something I'll live without next time! Definitely will be back!

Took forever to take our orders. Everything at the salad bar was soggy. Salmon was burnt and steak wasn't seasoned. Waited forever to receive check, pick up payment, and "doggy bag." Can't waste food no matter how bad, right? Definitely not worth using the coupon/gift card given to me.

We've been here a few times in the past year. We only come here when we have an entertainment book or a coupon from a clipper magazine (which have great deals for the place!). We usually stick to the sandwiches or a basic steak, but we always come during happy hour (until 8 pm M-F!). So if you want an unexciting place, decent food, cheap-er drinks, then its a great low key place for you!

The service is HORRIBLE! stay away from this place.. over an hour just to get our food out; not counting the 30 min wait to have a waitress come to our table and offer us drinks... never ever coming back!

Went here again the other night w/ my friend on a Moms Nite Out- we got seated in my favorite booth, overlooking the pond. It was really nice, wasn't too crowded, and we were the only ones who showed up out of the group of over 40+ moms. (Thanks guys for the support!) Anyways- We had a great time- ate, ate, and ate. She had a coupon that was buy one, get one. So who are we to turn down cheap prime rib and salad bar tacked on? There you have it. Decadence, and be damned to the diet for a day. Their garlic mashies were really good, esp. after throwing in 1/2 piece of butter. Ah, and yes, my stomach kicked me for it after. But it was good....

They've got good bread! Ha, I guess my steak wasn't awful it just wasn't anything amazing. The place is known for its steaks and such steakhouse type entrees. I felt a bit let down by the whole experience but we had a coupon so it was worth it. I think we used to go here when I was younger and I remember liking it. I remember everyone used to talk about it and say how wonderful it was. Such a huge deal amongst 80's yuppie families in the Inland Empire. But apparently it has either gone downhill or the more likely chance that it was never anything too special we just didn't know any better back then. Oh well, I think the funniest part for me personally is that all those baby boomers and yuppies still go there to hang out and drink with other yuppies. The only difference is now they are mostly divorcee's that are single and fatter. It's truly depressing. I'm sad now. It's a decent meal if you're not too picky, but don't expect greatness as you will be let down.

This is a 3 star steakhouse. If you are looking for a steak dinner in the area, go to the NY grill. This is the kind of steak house you don't have to dress up for. Mediocre meat and sides, salad bar, good service. Probably won't come back.

Cask N Cleaver has been a long-standing restaurant in this area for years. Great meals can be had here for both lunch and dinner. Dinners focus around steaks, prime rib and other dinner classics. Lunches run the gamut from burgers, fish, and of course, salads. The only thing preventing this place from being a great restaurant, in my opinion, is the REALLY inconsistent service that I've received. The food absolutely makes this one of the better restaurants around, but the service is their weak spot. If they fixed the service aspect, they'd get 4 or 5 stars, easy. But, they are always doing brisk business, so who am I to argue.

We came here on Mother's day, with my Mother In law, father in law and wife, since we hadn't been here in a while, and we had a coupon from restaurant.com . When we got there, I will say, we were seated quickly, even without a reservation. Our waitress was great, and the salad bar was one of the best I have ever seen. That being said, I ordered the Bleu steak, 8 oz, with mashed potatoes. When it came out, it was more like 6.5 oz and a baked potato. Being one to not correct anyone, or send anything back, I did my best to enjoy it. The steak itself was well cooked and tasty, but I think the title is a bit misleading. They say its 8 oz, but it was more like 6.5 oz. The salad bar was attacked by me twice, and they did have nice fresh ingredients at the salad bar. That being said, when we got there, they said they would not take the coupon, because it was Mother's day, a holiday. It said nowhere on the coupon that they did not accept the coupons on holidays, but all they could say to us was "it says on the website you bought it on, that we don't accept coupons on holidays." This is one of the primary reasons they get two stars. While the service was pretty good, and the food was decent, although my 8 oz steak was not 8 oz, the fact that they flat out refused to take the coupon irritated me. Also, my bleu steak was over $20, and honestly, while that is not ALOT of money for a decent steak, for $20 I got an ok steak, a good salad bar, and a baked potato instead of mashed. I feel it would have been more fairly priced at around $15. We are seriously considering going back and using the coupon. We give every place a second chance, so let's hope our second chance is better than the first.

I am a pretty frequent visitor to to cask n clever. The food is always a hit! Specially there fired avacados, soooo good! Steaks are always on point as well! Only downside to this place is its super old looking and needs a major update inside and out. Lol I always feel like I'm walking into a old movie is the middle of no where with a bunch of hicks when I go here . But the food is always good!

So I had a coupon and decided to give this place a try. I most likely won't be going back again. The majority of the food was lacking in taste, lobster was really poor quality and the bread didn't look as if it was baked long enough but yet still pretty hard. Oh and flat soda. I have to say that the steak was of a good quality. Lacked in taste but was cooked to my liking and pretty fresh. For those who like eating here, hats off to ya ;)

The Cask 'N Cleaver is a rich man's Sizzler. Good for a meaty meal and a side salad. Not the classiest of joints, but appealing in a kitschy sorta way (and honestly, where else are you gonna go in Ontario?). The bread was really good (especially the darker loaf -- rye, I think). The waitress was a little spazzed out (she might be have been dropping acid in the kitchen for all I know) so she didn't get my order right. I asked for a DRY baked potato. I didn't complain, though. Instead, I'm passively aggressively docking her employer 1 star on Yelp. For my entree I ordered the grilled salmon. It was solid, nothing special, but definitely solid. So there you have it -- 3 kitschy stars had the service been good. With the service as it was, the Cask 'N Cleaver gets only 2.

Four of us in the party. We were seated within 5 minutes upon arrival. Server was excellent being that she was swamped with Valentine Day customers.Prime Rib was done right. Salmon was excellent. Food was just the right temperature. The portions adequate. Love this place!

Before coming to Cask N' Cleaver, I highly recommend getting the Entertainment book first. The Entertainment book offers a 20% off coupon for pretty much ALL Cask N' Cleavers until your membership with Entertainment expires. Thus, your card is good for the whole year and you get 20% off every single time. With that said, here is my take on this restaurant. You probably will not be able to find this place if you're just driving around looking for places to eat. This particular location is hidden in the residential parts of Rancho Cucamonga (enter 9th through Vineyard). So it appears only the neighborhood, which is full of early-bird special diners, knows about this place, that is why it's usually empty by the time us whipper-snappers come around. The first time I came here, I was introduced to their prime rib sandwich. It's basically thin prime rib slices sandwiched in between huge cheese breads. You then dip this in hot au jus and eat to your heart's content. The flavor is fantastic. Of course, don't expect a healthy meal out of this. Each sandwich bite will cause the oil in the cheese bread to drip onto your plate. By the time your sandwich meal ends, you'll have a lake full of oil cheese. Heck, I don't come here for health reasons. I've also had their prime rib and it, too, is very tasty. It's a shame I haven't had their rib-eye yet and that will be my next order. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is the service. The previous reviewers are correct in that it's very inconsistent. Heck, sometimes they don't even have a hostess in front to greet you when you enter. On a side note, if you go to the Cask in San Dimas during Happy Hour, they provide free appetizers, such as buffalo wings, some chicken thingy, and veggies. I'm not sure about this one in Rancho since I don't go there for Happy Hour.

Had dinner at the Cask with a party of 10 people. Most of the orders were wrong, Some of us were halfway done with our meals before the others in our party's food arrived. We had a waitress from hell! She seemed the type that worked at the place forever. I asked for some steak sauce 3 times to no avail. She told me the restaurant ran out of A-1!! Before we left I walked around the place and found 3 full bottles of A-1, I emptied the contents all over my plate. Nice tip. PS..I hate liars.

Cask N' Cleaver has been my favorite steak house for at least 10 years. I've never had a bad meal. But look for coupons, they it make it a really great deal, I get them in the junk mail. Cask makes the best Long Island Iced Tea I've found (and trust me, I look everywhere i go!) As far as the service goes, I think they are great! Most of the staff has been there a long time and really know their stuff. I did like it better when they all use to wear aloha style shirts, it made it seem more casual and fun, I felt like I could go in there anytime, now they all wear black and it makes it feel more like a "special occasion" type of place. Prime Rib or Filet and the GREATEST ayce salad bar.

i've been to this steak place several times and must say, this is actually one of the better steak chains out there (especially better than black angus). if you come here for anything other than some form of bovine carcass, you've made a terrible error in judgment. i recommend their prime rib (served medium rare - of course), it's very tasty. I also tried their primerib sandwich and ribeye, both of which are good. as for other items on the menu: i don't think there's anything worthy to order off the appetizer selections. if i remember correctly, they overbread the calamari. the salad bar is nothing special. i don't remember any desserts. again, stick to their steaks and you'll be good to go. also, locals should be able to find $20 off $60 dinner coupons in their mailings - awesome deal. and now, on to something completely different! cue knight rider theme please! Steak Eater, a shadowy flight into the epicurious world of a man who eats too much. Bob C., a young yelper on a crusade to champion the cause of the tasty, the under-rated, the hole in the wall, in a world of people who eat only to subsist. doondadadoon, doondadadoon doondada-doondoondoon (too much time on my hands? may be, may be...)

The food here is really good! I have been going to Cask 'N Cleaver since i was a kid. I love there potato skins and teriyaki chicken. I have never ordered anything at Cask that I did not like.

I agree with the previous review for the most part. I don't know how the Cask stays open. Was there Saturday night. By 9:30 PM the restaurant was empty of diners. There were 4 people in the bar. The biggest disappointment for me is the prices have been sky rocketing. Every time they change their menu (which is frequently) their prices take a huge jump. I ordered the salad bar. Its $10.95. Now, this is not a salad bar that you can graze at for days. There is one kind of lettuce, limited & pretty basic toppings, dressings and some croutons. Hardly close to $11.00 's worth. My husband said his steak was ok, not great and not worth the huge price tag. The Cask is an old favorite, but is soon going to price itself off my list.

What a great hidden gem in Rancho (and when I say hidden I mean hidden). Great burger very big & yummy salad bar too.
(4)Marilou H.
My husband and I went here for dinner. Our server was friendly and attentive (we didn't get her name). We both had prime rib. Believe it or not, but their prime rib is better than the expensive Saturday prime rib dinner buffet we had in a Riverside hotel. We will be back!

Best food ever. And the have Amazing bartenders , Heather being my Favoriteshe makes the best cocktailsmy Fav meal is shrimp scampi you can never go wrong with that , it's always cooked perfect

Watch when they make your drink cause the bartender we had didnt make what we ordered.
(2)Adam E.
(3)Elaine J.

(3)Shawn O.

(5)Ana M.
The steak is excellent! My husband had the ribeye and I had the top sirloin...as for the sides they were ok...
(4)Michael E.
(5)Henry J.
(4)Mikeo X.
Great customer service excellent food will be going back soon the prime rib is delicious there steaks are also tasty restaurant looks rustic which its a plus for me and the bar area is awesome...great place to take the family....
(5)Helen C.
(2)Roberto M.
Went with my fiancé, on a Saturday afternoon. We went inside and waited. The hostess was kinda in a bad mood, didn't really pay attention to us, but I overlooked that. Our waitress was completely different, nice, fast, and made our experience that much better. Their service was a big plus. The food was good too. We began with a Cesar Salad and clam chowder, and they were both really good. We then ordered our main course, she had the steak sandwich and I had the 10oz steak blue-cheese. The taste was really good on both plates. Got it how I ordered it, and the meat was tender. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 was because of the size of the steak. For $25 I would like my steak a little bit bigger. But hey can't really complain, it was still delicious.
(4)C H.
(3)Autumn S.
(2)Alicia T.

Great food, great service, fun bar..romantic place. Best steak anywhere in town! Choose Cask over Magic Lamp everytime!

Best rib eye ever!!! Went for my boyfriend's birthday and he was impressed I ate my whole steak! Great for hungry people! My guy loved his birthday dinner!

Oh well.

Hidden between a residential and commercial neighborhood, this I as steakhouse frequented by locals. The staff is friendly. The salad bar is well stocked and the entrees are well prepared.
(3)Alexis N.
Absolutely wonderful service and great food as well. We left a previous restaurant because of poor service and decided to come here and the accommodations were perfect. Drinks and food out immediately and waitress was very pleasant. Will definitely be returning!
(5)John L.
This place is terrible 1st & last time for me , my order was wrong 3 different times in one siting from potatoes , steak and how it was cooked (smh) all was bad .
(1)Robert T.
My wife loved the Cabernet goat cheese butter on her NY steak and my porterhouse was very flavorful. My son's baby back ribs also had great flavor and the meat fell right off the bone. The wait was longer than expected but our meals were well prepared and we were very satisfied with our choices.
(4)Gennan C.
Missing the old menu with all inclusive: more complete salad bar/soup, entreé and side. The seafood selection pales in comparison to years ago. My husband and our friend ordered steaks and were delighted with them. Our two house salads were tasty especially with the balsamic vinaigrette. The HUGEST disappointment was my shrimp "tempura," with an appearance of a smooth fried shrimp, but OOZING with grease. I ate a few, sending the others back only to receive MORE of the same and to hear that's what they are! NO WAY....the fryer oil had obviously NOT been changed. Good thing we had a coupon and those were free! (Should have been anyway! )
(3)Kim C.
I really like this place but tonight my steak was undercooked. I had to send it back and when it was brought back to me it was so overcooked and dry it was into edible. Very disappointing!!
(2)Trina D.
(3)Ivan S.
Hiding between residential and commercial neighborhood , a regular place for locals , very friendly and excellent food Fried avocados for appetizer !!!! Excellent
(4)Patrick S.
EVER... EVER... EVER!
(1)Treydub L.
(1)Marcy K.
(2)Morgan D.
(1)John C.
(4)Veronica L.
Very yummy! Me and my husband made reservations for valentines day and we had the filet mijon and rib eye steak ,there baked potatos where very yummy!! Although the rib eye had alot of fat in it :P and the shrimp cocktail was very plain but other then that it was very good and super nice waitress!:] id recomed going just dont get the shrimp cocktail!:) unless u like plain shrimp and red cocktail sauce on the side
(4)Victor A.
Me and my wife had the 8 oz top sirloin baked potato, Salad Bar and potato skins Very good food. Steak was cooked perfect flavors were excellent a little on the pricy side but still very good food.
(5)Tony G.
The food is good, the prices can be a bit more competitive though. Friendly service.
(3)Anthony S.
Great food and service! Brittney is awesome!!!

I Ordered My Prime Rib Rare, I Got Well Done. The Waitress Tried Telling Me That It Was Rare, Hello, When iCut Into The Prime Rib it Didn't Even Bleed It Was Well Done. I Sent It Back And The Manager Came Back With A Rare Piece of Meat For me!!! I KNOW What Rare Is I Always Order Rare Or Blue NEVER Well Done!!!
(1)Hailey R.
I've been their once and that was enough!!! they don't know how to cook their meat!!! The salad bar was a big joke. The lettuce was wilted and the salad bar was warm not cold... I ordered rare and they gave me well done!!! I told the waitress and she said there was nothing she could do about it...Well I returned the steak and ordered a different steak...and it was dry!!! Avoid at all costs, waste of money!!!
(1)Klawdya Z.
The only thing I like here is the happy hour and good times with friends but that's it, tomatoes are always bad, as well as the limes, the carpet is extradirty, it needs an extreme clean
(3)Walter d.
Worth another try----------------------------

used to be our favorite place for celebrations or just a good dinner. hadn't been for a few months and went last night for our anniversary. prices have gone up, and you no longer get a choice of soup or salad with your entrée unless you pay even more. We added on desert, and that cake tasted horrible - like it had been around for awhile. We left 99% of it on the table, and if I won't each chocolate, you KNOW it's no good. I think we're going to have to find another place.
(2)Toni M.
(2)John T.
Had lunch here today. Ordered off of the lunch menu. The food is good, but our server Lauren made our afternoon. She is very attentive and friendly.
(5)William F.

(1)Mike L.
(4)Ken M.
Great food and service. The Manager finally put together a new Happy Hour. The new selection of food and later times is A+++++++
(5)Don E.
(4)Beatrice B.
(3)Emily F.
(1)Jacklyn W.
(3)Anne S.
(4)Steve P.
(1)Adam C.
(4)Liliana E.
The service is HORRIBLE! stay away from this place.. over an hour just to get our food out; not counting the 30 min wait to have a waitress come to our table and offer us drinks... never ever coming back!
(1)Cheryl L.
(3)Lynn C.
(2)Mal S.
This is a 3 star steakhouse. If you are looking for a steak dinner in the area, go to the NY grill. This is the kind of steak house you don't have to dress up for. Mediocre meat and sides, salad bar, good service. Probably won't come back.
(3)Daryl I.
(3)Scott H.

(4)Michelle C.
(2)Miguel M.
(2)Gerald T.
Four of us in the party. We were seated within 5 minutes upon arrival. Server was excellent being that she was swamped with Valentine Day customers.Prime Rib was done right. Salmon was excellent. Food was just the right temperature. The portions adequate. Love this place!
(5)Michael S.
Consistently good service and food. Had steak, ribs, salmon, tri tip on different visits!
